Statement of Faith
We believe the Bible
We believe that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant and authoritative Word of God through which God has revealed his character, his will, and his plan for the redemption of fallen mankind.
We believe in the Holy Trinity
We believe in only one God who has existed eternally in three persons -- the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the Father
We believe in God the Father, the eternally existing Creator of all that is seen and all that is unseen. He is perfectly holy, perfectly just, and perfectly loving, and His grace and mercy are without measure. We sinners can have right standing before God only by God’s grace, through faith in Jesus Christ.
We believe in the Son
We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, God's only Son, who is from everlasting to everlasting and took on human flesh to provide a way for us to be saved from the penalty of our sins. We believe in his virgin birth, his sinless life, his miracles, his death as an atonement for sin through the shedding of blood, his bodily resurrection, his ascension to heaven, and his personal return in power and glory. Jesus is the full and perfect revelation of His Father — God incarnated — and the perfect revelation of the character God had intended for mankind before its sin-fueled fall.
We believe in the Holy Spirit
We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit, whose presence within believers from the moment of salvation enables them to live by faith and to grow in spiritual maturity. It is also His ministry that draws the hearts of non-believers to faith in Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit has been with the Father and the Son eternally.
We believe we are sinners
Sin is falling short of God's intentions for us, and we believe that all human beings are sinful, guilty, and lost without Jesus Christ. None of us meets the standards of a perfectly righteous God, because we are all in some degree of rebellion against Him and against His commands. The cost of that rebellion is separation from God, and our salvation can come only through the work of Jesus Christ on the cross, where he bore our sins and died on our behalf.
We believe there is hope
We believe in the bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ and the resurrection of the dead for both salvation and final judgment. Those who have been redeemed through faith in Christ will spend eternity with Him in Heaven. Those who have denied Him will remain lost forever, suffering in Hell their eternal separation from the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the mission of the church
Jesus Christ established His church and promised that He would build it and empower it to do the work He had assigned it, to go and make disciples and to teach them to do likewise. New believers come to Jesus Christ by grace and through faith, and they join the community of believers through baptism, which is a public proclamation of their decision to follow Jesus and an act of obedience to Him who commanded it. Likewise, Jesus commanded the church to observe Holy Communion, which is a memorial to the sacrifice Jesus made and a ceremony that binds the community of believers in love and shared fidelity to Christ. Neither baptism nor communion, however, have the power to save.
This brief statement of faith does not cover the full extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired, inerrant and authoritative Word of God, speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind. It is, therefore, the sole and final source of all that we believe.
